Significance: The Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant program funds states, local communities, tribes, and territories to reduce or eliminate the risk of repetitive flood damage to buildings and structures insured under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)
Description: ANR's Flood Hazard Mitigation Program works to reduce the risk of flooding in Vermont through various initiatives, including floodplain mapping, hazard mitigation planning, and public outreach and education. Research projects supported by the program contribute to the development of floodplain management policies and practices aimed at minimizing the impacts of floods on communities and the environment.
